This unique temple, created by master Chalermchai Kositpipat, stands out with its white facade and mirrored glass elements that beautifully shimmer in the sunlight. The White Temple symbolizes the purity of Buddha, and the glass elements represent his wisdom. The temple complex, in addition to the main building, also offers other attractions such as gardens and an art gallery where more works of Chalermchai Kositpipat can be admired.
During the visit, pay attention to the detailed artworks and symbolic elements that adorn both the exterior and interior walls of the temple. Although photography inside the premises is prohibited, the sight and experience of being in this place will stay with you for a long time.
After a day full of impressions spent on the motorcycle and discovering the charms of northern Thailand, the evening will be a perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy Thai hospitality in the chosen hotel. This area is known for its scenic alpine landscapes and paddy fields, offering more than just the historical significance of being a meeting point of Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos.
A significant stop on your route will be the Opium Museum, where you'll have the opportunity to delve into the history of the opium trade in the region. The museum is part of the Golden Triangle's rich history, once known as the global capital of opium production. Despite its dark past, the Golden Triangle today is peaceful, offering panoramic views and cultural insights.
Continuing your journey along the Mekong River, you'll head towards Chiang Khong. This leg of the trip promises breathtaking views and a serene experience as you ride along the river's edge. Your day will conclude with a comfortable stay in a hotel in Chiang Khong, where you can relax and enjoy the views of the Mekong River, reflecting on the day's adventure and the cultural richness of the region you've just explored.
Day 7: Heading to Luang Namtha. Crossing the Border from Thailand to Laos. Distance approximately 240 km, to be covered in about 6 hours.
After breakfast and the morning briefing, we start our day a bit earlier with the goal of reaching the Thai Immigration when they open at 8 AM. After completing the Thai border formalities, we cross the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge. On the Lao side, our Lao tour guide greets us and assists with border formalities. Immigration and customs procedures always take some time, so we encourage you to relax and be patient.
Don't forget! In Laos, we drive on the right side of the road! After the border procedures, we have lunch at a local restaurant and then continue our journey to Luang Namtha. The road is quite good, and the scenery is breathtaking as we pass through several villages where we can stop and interact with the locals. Today's route is the main transit road between Thailand and China and usually has a bit more traffic. We expect to arrive in Luang Namtha in the early afternoon, where we will check in to our hotel. There will be plenty of time to explore this peaceful Laotian town. Overnight in Luang Namtha.
Day 8: Heading to Oudomxai. Distance approximately 150 km, to be covered in about 4 hours.
Today, we have a shorter leg of the journey, leading us through scenic terrain. The provincial road in Laos offers plenty of twists and turns, making it perfect for riding BMW GS motorcycles. Along the way, we'll have the opportunity to see the high-speed railway connecting Laos to China, which is changing this part of Laos, especially Luang Prabang. We expect to arrive at our tranquil jungle resort outside town around lunchtime. It's a beautiful property with an extensive 86-hectare area where you can try various outdoor activities such as zip-lining, ATV rides, horseback riding, and more. Alternatively, you can simply relax by the pool. Overnight in Oudomxai.
Day 9: Heading to Luang Prabang - Motorcycle Paradise through the Song Cha Mountains, Distance 150 km, to be covered in about 5 hours.
This morning, wake up amidst beautiful views and fresh air at our comfortable hotel. After a brief briefing and starting our motorcycle adventure, we cross the Song Cha mountain range towards Pak Mong. Just a few years ago, this 120-kilometer stretch would take the whole day (sometimes even longer). Now, a new road winds its way through the mountains. Today, awaits us a true motorcycle paradise with winding roads and incredible views. In the afternoon, we reach Luang Prabang, a city with gleaming temple roofs, preserved colonial heritage, and a picturesque mountain backdrop. UNESCO has declared it "the best-preserved city in South East Asia." Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 10: Luang Prabang - Rest and exploration day
Today, we have a scheduled rest day, which is entirely at our disposal. In the morning, you will have the opportunity to witness the procession of monks on their daily outing to collect alms, a practice dating back centuries. This takes place early in the morning because monks cannot consume meals after midday. By offering food to a monk, you accumulate merit, which is believed to bode well for your future life.
You also have the option to visit the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfalls. Swimming in the lagoon is possible, so bring your swimwear. A great way to get there is by using a local "Tuktuk."
Another possibility is a several-hour cruise on the Mekong River to the Pak Ou Caves. If spending too much time on a boat is not your preference, you can enjoy a short sunset cruise on the river.
Upon returning to Luang Prabang, you can explore the main temples, including the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong, located at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan Rivers, and Wat Wisunalat, the oldest temple in the city. Another fantastic option is to experience traditional Laotian massage and herbal sauna. Along the street, you'll find numerous antique shops, bakeries, bars, and much more. After sunset, the night market comes to life. Enjoy yourself! We stay another night in Luang Prabang.

You'll start the day with a delicious breakfast at the comfortable hotel, followed by a briefing. After brief preparations, we'll embark on today's journey, crossing the Mekong River by ferry, and then taking the perfect road for motorcycles through the Hongsa Mountains. The scenery is stunning, and few people reside in this part of Laos. We'll stop for lunch in Hongsa. In the latter part of the day, we'll ride to Pakbeng.
Pakbeng is a colorful village situated at the junction of the Mekong River and the smaller Beng River, hence the town’s name ‘Pak’ meaning ‘mouth’ in Lao. The scenery is stunning, and life here is at a leisurely pace. The town serves as a transit point mainly for tourists traveling by boat on the Mekong River between Luang Prabang and Huay Xai. Enjoy the view from the hotel's infinity pool. Overnight in Pakbeng.

This is our last day in Laos. The first part of the route takes us back in the direction of Hongsa. We cross into Thailand at the Huai Kon border point. Normally, the border formalities when leaving Laos and entering Thailand are quite straightforward. Upon entering Thailand, we find ourselves in the Nan province, which is one of the few remote areas left in Thailand. Enjoy the ride south towards Bo Kluea. In Bo Kluea (salt wells), we stop for lunch and visit the salt wells, where we will experience traditional salt extraction. After lunch, we return to the road and continue on a winding and picturesque route towards Nan, the capital of this province. This is the best motorcycle route that Thailand has to offer. For centuries, Nan was a separate, autonomous kingdom with few contacts with the outside world. Now, the city is a beautiful place with many well-preserved temples. For local bikers, this area is a treasure. Overnight in Nan.
Day 13: Heading to Chiang Mai, Thailand - Motorcycle Paradise on Perfect Winding Roads, Distance approximately 250 km, to cover in about 6 hours.

This stretch is a treat for all motorcycle enthusiasts who love riding on perfect winding roads. In Phayao, we stop by the lake for lunch. Then, we first follow the lakeshore and make our way towards Mae Khachan and the nearby hot springs. Here, you have the opportunity to dip your feet in the hot water. From this point, we have the final stretch to Chiang Mai. We expect to arrive around 5:00 PM. There's still the motorcycle return and farewell dinner ahead.
Day 14: Return Home
The last day of our incredible journey through Laos and Thailand has arrived. In the morning, you can savor your final moments in Chiang Mai, enjoying a delicious breakfast at the hotel and exploring the local attractions. You can also unwind at the hotel's spa or by the pool, preparing for your journey.
After your morning preparations, a transfer will pick you up from the hotel and take you to Chiang Mai International Airport.
